Madame Bolduc Roadshow

Madame Bolduc Roadshow

The Musée de la Gare is pleased to present the exhibition Madame Bolduc Roadshow during the summer of 2023. Produced by the Musée de la Gaspésie, this bilingual exhibition highlights the groundbreaking journey that elevated Mary Travers know as La Bolduc to the title of Queen of Canadian Folk Song in the 1930s. The exhibition is an incursion into her life, which culminated in the creation of her Bon vieux temps troupe, with whom she toured Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick.

A Gaspesian by birth and a proud ambassador for her native region, Ms. Bolduc's fame extends throughout the province of Quebec and to many French-speaking regions of Canada and even the United States. Although gifted with musical talent, nothing suggested that Madame Bolduc would become one of the most popular singers of the 1930s. With her comic songs, colourful lyrics and contagious enthusiasm, she made a name for herself and endeared herself to audiences throughout French-speaking Canada and the northeastern United States.
